A professional who plans and directs activities to secure and maintain underwriting (funding) of public television or radio programming. Responsibilities include:
- Reviews reports, periodicals, and other materials to identify prospective funding sources for proposed broadcast programs.
- Directs and counsels subordinates in developing strategies to secure program funding and negotiates final agreements with funding establishment representatives.
- Serves as liaison between station's legal, programming, public information, and other departmental staff and funding establishment personnel to provide information on status of projects and to resolve problems.
- May specialize in solicitation of funding from government, foundation, or corporation sources.
