C6HCl4OH Either of two toxic compounds: 2,3,4,6-tetrachlorophenol comprises brown flakes, soluble in common solvents, melting at 70_C, and is used as a fungicide; 2,4,5,6-tetrachlorophenol is a brown solid, insoluble in water, soluble in sodium hydroxide, has a phenol scent, melts at about 50_C, and is used as a fungicide and for wood preservatives.
