A professional who shears wool from live sheep, using power-driven clippers or hand shears. Respnsibilities include:

  • Places animal in shearing station.
  • Clips wool close to hide so that fleece is removed in one piece and exercises care to nick or cut skin as little as possible.
  • Herds shorn animal into runway leading to pen.
  • Oils and sharpens clippers and shears.
  • May tie fleece.
