plant-operator helper
A professional who tends equipment in furnace-process plant that produces carbon black by partial combustion of crude oil, natural gas, or mixture of both. Respnsibilities include:
- Starts individual units, such as reactors (furnaces), quenchers, precipitators, cyclones (grit collectors), pumps, compressors, and conveyors.
- Turns valves to regulate flow of water in quencher, feed rate of fuel and air, and movement of accumulated carbon black through equipment, as directed by plant operator, furnace process.
- Observes gauges and meters to verify specified temperature, pressure, and flow rates of materials.
- Opens inspection ports and observes flow of product through conveyors to detect jamming.
