A professional who tends furnace to melt lead-antimony pigs and scrap, and ladles molten metal into molds. Respnsibilities include:
- Slides pigs into furnace pot, allowing oil fumes to burn off melting metal to avoid accumulation of explosive oil vapor-air mixture.
- Stirs molten metal, skims dross from surface, and ladles metal into ingot molds.
- Turns valves to control flow of coolant water to molds.
- Inverts molds, when metal is solidified, and knocks ingots loose.
