A professional who collects evidence at scene of crime or fatal accident, classifies and identifies fingerprints, and photographs evidence for use in criminal and civil cases. Respnsibilities include:

  • Dusts selected areas of crime scene to locate and reveal latent fingerprints.
  • Lifts prints from crime site, using special tape.
  • Photographs crime or accident scene to obtain record of evidence.
  • Photographs, records physical description, and fingerprints homicide victims and suspects for identification purposes.
  • Classifies and files fingerprints fingerprint classifier.
  • Develops film and prints, using photographic developing equipment.
  • Submits evidence to commander, identification and records for cataloging.
