A professional who directs and coordinates programs, transactions, and security measures of financial institution. Responsibilities include:
- Examines institution operations to evaluate efficiency.
- Plans and implements new operating procedures to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Directs receipt and disbursement of funds and acquisition and sale of other assets.
- Approves agreements affecting capital transactions.
- Directs safekeeping, control, and accounting of assets and securities.
- Ensures that institution reserves meet legal requirements.
- Analyzes financial and operating statements of institution, and reports and makes recommendations to management or board of directors in regard to financial policies and programs.
- May participate as member of committee deciding on extending lines of credit to commercial enterprises and other organizations.
- May be designated according to type of financial institution, such as Treasurer, Savings Bank.
