A professional who holds in escrow, funds, legal papers, and other collateral posted by contracting parties to ensure fulfillment of contracts or trust agreements. Responsibilities include:

  • Prepares escrow agreement.
  • Executes terms of contract or trust agreement, such as holding money or legal papers, paying off mortgages, or paying sums to designated parties.
  • Files and delivers deeds and other legal papers.
  • May assist buyer to secure financing.
