curing room supervisor
A professional who supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in blending, aging, and fermenting tobacco strips and stems in production of cigars, chewing tobacco, or snuff. Respnsibilities include:
- Reads production schedules for information, such as quantity of stems, and strip tobacco, amounts of water and casing fluid, and aging time specified.
- Computes amount of tobacco strips and stems required to maintain production.
- Analyzes thermometer readings of piles of tobacco to determine stages of fermentation, and schedules turning or transfer of tobacco cures.
- Coordinates receipt of tobacco from supplier and transfer to drying department.
- Performs other duties as described under supervisor master title.
