The Montseny Biosphere Reserve is one of the Pyrenees natural parks that is found between the Mediterranean and Eurosiberian –Perennial region in the Mediterranean Sclerophyll province. This is the highest part of the Catalan coastal range of northern Massif isolation from Catalan pre-coastal Cordillera. This natural park is known for its extraordinary diversity with a flora and fauna that gives it scenery advantages, with its position located between the Mediterranean and Atlantic regions. It also has some very well conserved cork oak, Holm oak, Beaches, Chestnut, Pine, and even Fir forest that give ways to vast grasslands in the highlands.
The riparian forest of Aspen, willow, hazelnut, and ash trees border the numerous watercourses with other fauna in Mediterranean species that are characteristic of central-European ecosystems, such as the Edible Door-Mouse, the European Greer Lizard or the Aesculapius snake, and the high mountain species such as the Pyrenean Brook Salamander and the European common frog. The entomological fauna has many varieties that enrich this diversity with butterfly species.
