Japanese
Japanese has around 125 million speakers. Japanese has no genetic relationship with Chinese, but it makes extensive use of Chinese characters, or kanji, in its writing system, and a large portion of its vocabulary is borrowed from Chinese. Obviously the writing system is one of the reasons Japanese is a challenging language to master. Also, verbs are conjugated for tense and voice, but not person. Japanese equivalents of adjectives are also conjugated.
